With nine of us this week, we split into groups of four and five with the larger group starting off with Jamaica, a really nice game about pirates racing around the island, digging up treasure and plundering from other players' ships. Nicky and Julia had not played before but it is simple to pick up, although you can still end up with "rubbish cards" and not be able to do what you would really like to do. Mark G started the race sedately but then raced round and was threatening to cross the line while some of us were behind the "-5 point" line. However, he didn't have the cards to do so and this allowed me to cross the line at the same time as him. However, I had also had quite a few lucrative battles with others along the way and had amassed a horde of 20 coins which, when added to my race points and treasure chest, gave me a very comfortable win. Conversely, Guy and Julia nearly ended up with negative points. Perhaps their crews made them walk the plank at the end of the game. Ah-harrr!!
