One of the definite purchases at Essen for me was this follow-up to 6 Nimmt, which is one of our favourite filler card games. Gone are the cards, being replaced by tiles from 1 to 99, and a board is added to alter the standard "sixth card placed in a row takes the lot" mechanic.

The basic idea is still the same: Play a card/tile and try to avoid filling one of the four rows of cards. However the board modifies things so that it is harder not to take penalties. So for instance, one row only requires three tiles to qualify for a penalty, some "cow pat" spaces give penalties in the middle of a row, and certain rows dictate you play two cards per turn instead of one. It could be said that the board adds more luck/chaos to the gameplay, but it's still the same push your luck approach to choosing tiles that was in the original, just that there are additional things to watch out for.

Our game was good fun and we all enjoyed agonising over which of our useless tiles was least likely to score negative points. 6 Nimmt is always good fun and this gives a different gaming experience. I don't think it's better or worse than the original - it's just a good laugh when you don't want anything too taxing on the brain.
